Kazakhstan to reduce flour export volumes – expert

To date, the export volumes of flour from Kazakhstan total 1.8 mln tonnes per year, but in the nearest future the index will reduce to the level of 1.2-1.5 mln tonnes, announced Eugene Gan, Chairman of the Union of Grain Processors and Bakers of Kazakhstan, on April 24.

The expert estimated the average annual export potential of Kazakh grains at 7 to 8 mln tonnes, stressing that the rates of bread consumption in the countries of Central Asia are quite high, and will continue growing in the future.

Also, E.Gan forecasted some decreasing of the planted areas under wheat and simultaneous increasing of the areas under melons and oilseeds in the country in the following years. In the current season, grain harvest in Kazakhstan will total 18.9 mln tonnes.
