In January-February, Russia exported over 3.5 mln tonnes of grains - Rosstat

In January-February of 2015, Russia increased grain export volumes by 42.9% compared with the same period of the previous year - to 3.541 mln tonnes,

reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on April 20.

According to the announcement, in the reporting period there was observed some increase of foreign supplies of almost all major grains: wheat and meslin - up 65% compared with the same period last year, to 2.508 mln tonnes, barley - up 9.6 times, to 501 thsd tonnes, rice – up 2.1 times, to 61.7 thsd tonnes.

As for the export volumes of other plant growing commodities from Russia, the volume of foreign supplies of wheat and wheat-rye flour increased by 83.2% - to 24.8 thsd tonnes.

At the same time, in January-February of 2015, there was observed some decline of corn exports - down 50.4%, to 412 thsd tonnes, and sunflower seed exports - down 10.5%, to 23.7 thsd tonnes.
